#74: LDC on Folk Acoustic

Local acoustic artist and longtime friend of the MicSite, Eric Kalenze, helped us audition several higher-end mics. These are all mics over $600, and any one of them may be the only high-end mic you need in your collection, but which? We have set them all to a cardioid polar pattern, flat and with no attenuation, they are pointed towards an acoustic guitar about 12” (30.5 cm) away to capture a light finger-picking original song by Eric.

Be sure to use the “Listen Blind” feature under “Options” to avoid any preconceived notions on which mic you’ll like.

NOTE: There is a BED Reverb track where all the mics were fed into both a small room verb and a little delay to allow you to hear the tracks as they might appear in a mix.
